“Empowering communities, celebrating diversity, and building opportunities for a brighter future together.”

— Indigo Group

OUR STORY

Team members collaborating

Indigo Group became an official nonprofit in February 2024 in Los Angeles County, but our story started long before then. Our purpose is to empower international youth and first generation Americans with education and leadership opportunities so they can grow, discover their voice, and contribute to a brighter California for future generations.

Indigo is more than an organization. It is a community where art, business, education, and culture come together to lift up internationals and first generation Americans. We are proud to stand with communities from Mexico, Persia, Ukraine, and many others who are shaping the future of this country. Too often, traditional organizations and public policies overlook these communities.

According to the National Immigration Law Center (2024), more than 25 million people in the United States have limited English proficiency, and they are three times more likely to be uninsured than fluent English speakers. This is why Indigo exists: to provide real tools, meaningful support, and hope for those building a new life.

How It All Began

The Indigo story started in 2021 as a movement across Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, and the Caribbean, focused on helping people who were forced to leave their countries because of conflict and crisis.

A legacy of support

Before Indigo, our founder and CEO, Manuel Alejandro Polanco, started Panas Sin Límites, an effort that delivered more than 100,000 meals and thousands of medicines to families in need across Latin America. That spirit of service and care became the foundation of Indigo

indigo today

In 2024, our founder, a young lawyer passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation, brought Indigo to California. Since then, Indigo Group has grown into a movement that provides internationals and first generation Americans with the resources they need to thrive.

Today, we continue to grow, to learn, and to create real opportunities for a better future.
